NDANDA is a part of the worldwide Missionary Benedictine Congregation of St. Ottilien. We are therefore a missionary community. In answering our missionary call, the community decided in 2014 to open a new mission centre in N’nango near Mocimboa da Praia in northern Mozambique. The community – ST. PACHOMIUS MONASTERY – consists of four brothers. The aim of this mission includes:
- Working with the local Church in Mozambique in strengthening the Christian faith,
- Together with the local Church and the local authorities to address the social/economic concerns of the people. Main areas of concern are health care and the education/training of the young people.
- Not least in importance is sharing the Benedictine life with our Mozambican neighbours. Our goal with this regard is clear: to found a proper Benedictine monastery which we hope will act as a driving force for the spiritual, social and economic development of the people. “St. Pachomius’ Abbey” surely sounds like a remote dream, but Ndanda believes that one day it will be possible.
