Ndanda Abbey took this as a missionary challenge and an opportunity. In December 2023, His Grace the Archbishop of Dodoma – Beautus Kinyaiya OfmCap, laid the foundation stone for the Benedictine Mission in Nzinje village, near Michese; a location situated about 14km from the city centre to the South West. The blessign of the Archbishop on the day one of this project was really a source of one blessing after another. Within a year, a sizeable monastery building for four brothers was ready for occupation. The first group of brothers moved in to start a new life of ora et labora in Dodoma in September 2024.
Currently, the community is working on a school project for boys whose name will be ABBEY SECONDARY SCHOOL DODOMA. This school will be will be a memorial school to the founder of the Missionary Benedictines – Fr. Andreas Amrehein. It will start operations in November 2025. The brothers have taken over the designated parish of Michese with its outstations. It is a foundation which is growing fast, just as the 10.000 trees which have been planted around the 56 acre property.
