ABBEY SPRINGS ™ is a drinking water project under the Benedictine Abbey of Ndanda. The greatest blessing which Ndanda is endowed with is it clean, safe and “sweet” drinking water. Whenever guests came to our community they kept wondering why we don’t make our water available to places outside Ndanda. Even after sharing our water with the villages around us, we always had surplus. We thought: ‘well, this is not a bad idea at all!’ And so we started with a hand-driven bottle-filling machine several years ago to fill and supply our water mostly to southern parts of Tanzania. Actually, this was a very humble beginning. As the demand of our water became greater and the hand-driven machines become more and more inadequate, the community decided to invest in a more modern and faster water-filling machine. Today our water is distributed near and far – to the satisfaction of all who drink it.
